Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Impact
Assessment, Permitting, and Compliance Practice in Northern
California. The position is to be based out of our Chico, Redding,
Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, or Walnut Creek,
Office; geographic alignment with other Stantec offices may be

Your Key Responsibilities
* As an Environmental Planner, you will provide environmental
and land use planning knowledge to help with transportation
projects including but not limited to bridge
rehabilitation/replacements, culvert replacements, roadway
improvements, managed lanes projects, safety improvement and
projects. You will assist and lead in project preliminary
environmental constraints analyses, completing Preliminary
Environmental Studies forms, project permitting, , environmental
impact analysis and CEQA/NEPA support, biological and cultural
assessment support, community impact assessments, Section 4(f)
evaluations, cumulative impacts assessments, water quality
assessments, and land use planning and coordination for a wide
range of transportation projects. Experience with the delivery of
task orders under Caltrans on-call contracts, local agency
transportation projects through the Caltrans Local Assistance
Program, , familiarity with CEQA and NEPA environmental review
processes and permitting assessment process is required.
* As an Environmental Planner, you will contribute to and manage
multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of internal technical
staff, as well as subcontractors, in all phases of the execution
and delivery of environmental compliance and permitting
requirements for a wide range of infrastructure projects.
* This position requires strong skills as a self-starter, with
ability to participate on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Must have a strong understanding of the project delivery
requirements for transportation projects, including Federal Highway
Administration, Caltrans Standard Environmental Reference, and
Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual - Chapter 6,
Environmental Procedures in support of local agency transportation
projects. This role will also include support to Stantec's Caltrans
Program Team in delivering a wide range of task orders for current
Your Capabilities and Credentials
* 3 years of experience performing environmental planning and
permitting work for California transportation clients, including
local agencies and Caltrans.
* 5 years of experience performing environmental planning and
permitting work for transportation projects.
* Strong research, analysis and reporting abilities.
* Focused on detail-orientation skills and capable of managing
large data sets.
* Are self-starting, team-oriented professional with excellent
written and communication skills that can manage multi-disciplinary
teams comprised of internal staff and subcontractors.
* Should be familiar with review and analysis of scientific
data, maps, and drawings.
* Experience with permitting and CEQA and NEPA.
* Provide support in managing task orders/projects and
delivering high quality work products to Stantec's
multi-disciplinary project teams.
* NEPA experience a plus.
* CWA 404/401 permitting a plus.
* Caltrans Experience (Capital and Local Assistance)
* Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with
Education and Experience
* Basic: BA/BS degree in Urban, Regional or Environmental Land
Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or a
related field. 5-8 years of experience.
* Preferred: Master's degree in Urban, Regional or Environmental
Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or
a related field.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining
sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure
to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and
move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
