*Your Role:* CSAA IG is seeking a talented, self-directed, and service-oriented attorney, preferably with 5 plus years of insurance law experience to join the CSAA IG Legal Department. We are a collegial fun team who enjoys doing good work, while working to do good!
The attorney will handle and manage litigation and provide advice and counsel on insurance coverage and extra-contractual matters. The position requires thorough knowledge of Homeowner and Auto insurance and an ability to provide direction to homeowner and casualty personnel. Commercial experience is a plus. The ability to multi-task and provide strategic business advice are particularly critical aspects of the job: candidates must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, business-results oriented and team-based environment.
*Your work: (*Essential responsibilities)

* Provide advice and counsel on automobile and homeowner insurance coverage and extra contractual claims and lawsuits. Provide direction, advice on strategic handling, and resolution of complex non-litigated coverage questions. Advise and collaborate with business partners in the Legal Division, including Regulatory, Compliance and Product. Advise on new personal lines and commercial line products. In coordination with our Claims staff, analyze claims and lawsuits, and options for resolution. The candidate selected will be familiar with all phases of litigation.

* Specific Activities Include

* Legal analysis involving insurance coverage and extra-contractual matters.

* Familiarity with all phases of litigation including motion practice, mediation and trial. Advise on strategies for resolution.

* Evaluate coverage and prepare coverage opinions.

* Analyze, research, draft briefs, address legal issues on complex litigation matters.

* Advice and counsel to our internal business partners including Claims, Product, Policy & Standards, Marketing, Policyholder Relations, Compliance and Regulatory groups.

* Advise on claim handling practices.

* Analyze insurance contracts, including personal lines casualty and property, and applicability of relevant law.

* Analyze and advise on new insurance regulations and case law.

*What would make us excited about you?*

* Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

* Membership of the California State Bar preferred.

* 5 plus years of law firm or in-house experience in insurance coverage and extra-contractual litigation.

* Knowledge of current law and issues within area of specialty, including insurance coverage and extra-contractual litigation.

* Strong verbal and legal writing skills.

* Ability to advocate creatively, persuasively, and effectively.

* Ability to work collaboratively to support activities of in-house and external business partners

* Shows respect for differences through excellent communication skills with people from an array of backgrounds.

The national average salary range for this position is $163,000 - $181,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $163,000 - $217,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 12% of eligible pay.
