Job Description:The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment of John Muir Behavioral Health Center for Recovery patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP performs duties according to standardized procedures which have been developed collaboratively by John Muir Behavioral Health Center administration, medical staff, nursing, and Nurse Practitioners and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. The NP is a registered nurse who possesses additional preparation and skills in physical diagnosis, psycho-social assessment, and management of health-illness needs. The NP assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients, provides information to patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and counseling. The NP provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians to patients at John Muir Behavioral Health Center.Education:

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP) RequiredExperience:
  • 3 years Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Required in Psychiatric experience RequiredCertifications/Licensures:
    • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing Required
    • NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing -Required
    • NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing Required
    • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center Required
    • DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration -Required
    • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association -RequiredSkills:
      • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric illnesses including addictions.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage patient's health and illness.
      • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage time, and prioritize work in collaboration with others.
      • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and motivated. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
      • Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills and effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
