Job Description:
Animal Care Hospital of Walnut Creek - We're looking for an
exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our team! Role and
Responsibilities but are not limited to: - - - Anesthesia
induction, maintenance, monitoring, & recovery of patients, clean /
maintain anesthesia equipment under the direction of a licensed
veterinarian. - - - Surgery - surgical preperation, doctor
assistance, clean, sterilize, and maintain all surgical instruments
and/OR equipment. - - - In-Patient Medical Care - medications,
assist or perform treatments, diagnostics & monitoring, place IV
catheters, draw blood, run lab tests, administer IV fluids,
cleaning, feeding, and walking patients as needed under the
direction of a licensed veterinarian. - - - Radiology - positioning
patients and taking radiographs, submitting for consultations &
attach to medical records. - - - Laboratory duties - collecting,
preparing, and running or submitting samples for requested tests;
reading and recording results when indicated (fecal, urinalysis,
ear cytology, etc.) when requested by doctor. - - - Preparing
invoices, discharge instructions, and client information packs. - -
- Client communication - give patient updates, discharge
instructions, and provide follow-up for certain - - - hospital
patients. - - - Client medical demonstrations/education. - - -
Technician appointments - blood draws for therapeutic monitoring /
screening tests, bandage changes, post-op checks and suture
removals. - - - Clinic technician - assisting doctor with
outpatient appointments, preparing, restocking, cleaning exam
rooms, check patients in and out, take history and vitals, input
date into patient medical record, ensure smooth and timely flow of
outpatient appointments from check-in to the discharge. - - -
Assist in training and mentoring new team members, interns/students
and volunteers. - - - Preparing prescriptions, dispensed
medications & medication refills. - - - Calculating drug dosages,
fluid drip rates accurately. - - - Contribute to hospital
cleaning.Qualifications and Education Requirements - - - One year
related experience required with customer service preferred - - -
Motivation, excellent communication skills, willingness to learn,
and a team oriented spirit. - - - Excellent verbal communication
skills - - - Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability
to effectively prioritize and multi-task - - - A keen eye for
detail - - - Conscientiousness, and a commitment to providing an
exceptional standard of care for our patients - - - Dependability,
trustworthiness and reliability - - - The ability to work weekends
as needed - - - The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on your
own, and to be able to squat, kneel down and/or lean over for long
periods of time - - - A genuine love for this job, and the ability
to have fun doing it! - - - RVT license (optional but not
required)Perform other duties as necessary within the Veterinary
Practice
