information.Job Summary:Community Development Finance (CDF)
provides real estate construction, permanent loans, and tax credit
equity investments, and is a leader in affordable housing finance
in California. Reporting to the designated supervisor, the
Portfolio Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the
Portfolio Management team for CDF.Responsibilities include, but not
limited to the following:In this role you will work closely with
and support the supervisor on the monthly accounting, quarterly
reporting, and other finance processes. You will assist in
maintaining databases accuracy for reporting and financial analysis
purposes, including owning and developing portfolio financial
summaries, ensuring books and records / transactions are accurate
and complete. Responsibilities include:Review annual financial
statement and tax returns for CDF 's investment portfolio,
including review of CDF 's Syndication Fund financial statement and
tax returns, where CDF engages 3rd party CPAs.Perform financial
analysis and interpretation, supporting the investment portfolio.
Contributing with investor reporting duties. This involves being
able to confidently analyze financial operations in conjunction
with underwriting, project-level agreements, partnership,
appraisals, and operations for CDF 's portfolio and prepare due
diligence memos and materials (appraisals, market studies, legal
agreements, etc.) for potential syndicationsForecast preparation
and ownership over flux analysis of MoM, Variance against budget,
and changes in Actuals vs prior forecast, and how transactions
impact the future forecast and other PM team members, requiring
quantitative and qualitative analysis.Ownership over the accounting
and finance aspect of Disposition related matters (such as
Disposition Memos, yield proof, cash flow analysis, Gain/Loss
analysis, coordination w/ other stakeholders including different
departments as well as within the Portfolio Management team,
etc.)Prepare transactions for the database (such as equity
projection updates, tax return and financial statement updates) and
month end reconciliations.Additional responsibilities may include
invoice processing or reviews, check and wire review/preparation
for Non-Interest Income and Operating Expense forecast.Ownership
over monthly month-end close preparation and memo of notable items
and track open items to follow-up and resolve.Prepare and own
QuickBooks Fund Financials workpaper and VIE work product,
including impairment workpapers, CDF sponsored fund financials,
Bank Recons, address UB sponsored fund and investor related
inquiries.Collaborate with internal and external partners (such as
SOX team, Corporate Tax Department, Business Unit Controllers,
Investors, Auditors, etc.) for any quarterly reporting and
deliverables.Own efficiency projects, operational improvement
projects, and other ad-hoc special projects and analyses as
directed.Handle the post-closing matters, including resolving
property level performance analysis and partnership exits
(disposition qualitative and quantitative analysis, memos,
etc.).Qualifications:5+ years of public accounting, finance, and/or
FP&A experience or equivalent, with a working knowledge of
Partnership Tax Returns or working experience in tax
accounting.Advanced working knowledge of U.S. GAAP Accounting to be
able to propose journal entries (Fund Financials, etc.).Advanced
Excel and PowerPoint skills, beyond the typical basic formulas.
Able to interpret formulas within a workbook and understand its
intended goal.Self-starter and a quick learner that operates with a
high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and a desire to
contribute.Exceptional ability to work with large sets of data,
think critically to recognize discrepancies correlations and
anomalies through analysis & problem-solving
capabilities.Extraordinary ability to prioritize, work proactively
and independently, and multi-task to adhere to strict deadlines
while performing a variety of complex tasks without compromising
quality and competing deadlines.Excellent communication, financial
analysis, presentation, organization, interpersonal skills, verbal,
and written skills.Great teammate, disciplined self-starter,
enthusiastic, high integrity, diligent and positive, enthusiastic
energy with a can-do and resilient attitude, a sense of optimism,
ownership, and receptive to coaching.Exposure to affordable housing
is a plus.
