Vice President-Outpatient & Procedural Care Services - Nursing Administration - Full Time - 8 Hour - Days* Job Description: The Vice President - Procedural and Outpatient Services (VPPOS) provides leadership for patient care and is responsible for nursing and other designated patient care functions/services within the procedural and outpatient areas, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Vice President - Procedural and Outpatient Services, works under the direction of the SVP, System Chief Nurse Executive to provide organizational direction, leadership, planning, and general management for all aspects of patient care. The VPPOS champions initiatives to ensure integration of services and standardization of processes with the development and facilitation of long range objectives and strategies, including the provision of quality outcomes and the promotion of patient centered care. The VPPOS has responsibility for regulatory compliance, quality, patient experience, stewardship of resources and evaluation of the overall provision of nursing care within departments that report to them.

The VPPOS will ensure the development of nursing leaders and staff at all levels and support professional development opportunities to promote safe practice and continued learning throughout the nursing organization. The VPPOS is responsible for ensuring optimal, achievable standards of care, maintaining positive staff morale, and promotion of the professional practice constructs to support Magnet requirements.

The VPPOS will partner to achieve integration, collaboration and standardization, and provide support and backup administrative coverage as needed. Within the John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center, the VPPOS will maintain collegial relationships with collective bargaining units. As a member of the Hospital management and executive committees, will work collaboratively with other senior leaders and physician leaders and the medical staff to promote a culture of collaboration and mutual respect between the nursing administration and medical staff to achieve the highest quality of healthcare in a clinically reliable and fiscally accountable manner.Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing - Required
  • Bachelors Nursing - Required
  • Master's Degree Nursing - Required or -- Related Field --- Required Experience:
    • 5 years Healthcare - Acute Care - Required
    • 3-5 years Nursing - Progressive Leadership Experience - Required
    • Experience in LEAN management and systems design - Preferred Certifications/Licensures:
      • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required
      • Specialty Certifications - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center - Required Skills:
        • Thorough knowledge of fundamentals of hospitals organization and administration, standards and regulations of hospitals and laws applicable to hospital operations.
        • Knowledge of personnel and business administration, marketing and public relations.
        • Thorough knowledge of fundamentals of nursing administration and be able to apply principles of personnel administration to selection, placement, and transfer of employees.
        • Knowledge of current leadership, management and performance improvement concepts.
        • Proven ability to work effectively with members of a medical staff.
