resilience. About the Job Peak Energy is seeking a Head of Hardware
to lead all aspects of hardware development for our ESS
platform—including system, mechanical, structural, thermal,
electrical and firmware domains . You'll set the direction and
drive execution across subsystem design, integration, and
validation, ensuring our hardware is safe, reliable, and ready for
scale. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives at the
intersection of multiple disciplines and wants to help build a
world-class energy storage product from first principles.
Responsibilities: Act as technical lead for Peak's products Lead
system design and ensure successful integration across system,
mechanical, structural, thermal, electrical and firmware domains.
Define and maintain system-level requirements for HV/LV
distribution, enclosures, interconnects, cooling, and protections.
Own system modeling and engineering through requirements definition
across mechanical, thermal, and structural domains to ensure
cohesive, high-performance product design Oversee
design-for-manufacturability and collaborate with supply chain
partners to scale production. Own validation testing—mechanical
reliability, thermal cycling, HV insulation, seismic/structural
performance. Ensure compliance with safety and certification
standards (UL, IEEE, IEC). Partner with software, firmware, and
electronics teams to deliver seamless end-to-end product
integration. Recruit, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary hardware
team spanning electrical, mechanical, structural, and thermal
engineering. Minimum Qualifications: 10 years of experience in
hardware engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
Proven track record of delivering at scale high voltage and high
power systems, energy storage systems, or comparable large-scale
industrial/automotive hardware. Expertise across electrical system
design (HV/LV systems, bussing, protections), mechanical/structural
design, and thermal management. Skilled in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA)
and analysis tools (FEA, CFD) as well as hands-on prototyping and
validation. Strong understanding of compliance, certification, and
safety requirements for ESS hardware. Excellent communicator and
team builder with the ability to align across disciplines.
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Experience
scaling hardware teams in startups or high-growth environments.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes for ESS enclosures,
interconnects, and cooling systems. Exposure to sodium-ion,
lithium-ion, or other advanced battery technologies. Peak Energy

$215,000 - $265,000, with actual pay varying based on work
