H2O+U.Stantec Water is seeking a Principal Water Treatment Engineer
to join, and help lead, our thriving practice in Northern
California which, over the past 50 years, has delivered many of the
most significant drinking water projects in the region. In this
consulting engineering role, you will lead talented
multi-discipline teams that partner with municipal water systems to
tackle a complex array of planning, design and construction
projects. You will need to be self-directed, capable of leading and
supervising diverse teams, and eager to mentor staff. You should
demonstrate an enthusiasm for the water industry and Stantec's
water treatment practice. You will participate in all aspects of
the project lifecycle - getting to know our clients and their
needs, partnering with business development personnel to develop
technical proposals, delivering successful projects, and
maintaining contact with clients after projects are complete.
Although this position will be focused on winning and delivering
work in the state of California, there will be opportunities to
work throughout North America and abroad.Your Key
ResponsibilitiesProject Technical Leadership: Lead the technical
execution of water treatment projects, with an emphasis on
treatment process and process mechanical systems. Promote teamwork
and collaboration among disciplines and subconsultants. Uphold best
practices in design and implement effective quality management
processes.Technical Support for Project Pursuit and Delivery: Share
your technical expertise in Northern California and across North
America. Collaborate with others to solve technical and strategic
problems, develop internal standards and best practices, and
provide quality review for projects.Mentoring: Mentor young
professionals who desire guidance on career development objectives
and develop collaborative peer mentoring relationships. This
mentoring can take any number of forms, including one-on-one
guidance, involvement in Stantec initiatives and interest groups,
and participation in industry associations.Technical Support for
Regional Business Development Activities: Help position Stantec in
the water treatment market and identify strategic project
opportunities through face-to-face client interactions, site
visits, technical training for client staff, and presentations on
treatment technology, planning, regulatory frameworks, and other
topics. Provide technical support for the pursuit and capture of
projects by identifying key issues, developing technical solutions,
developing proposal content, and participating in interview
preparation and delivery.Corporate Branding: Participate in state,
regional and national professional associations including American
Water Works Association (AWWA), California-Nevada Section of AWWA,
and Water Reuse Association. Attend and present at conferences,
workshops, webinars, and training events. Become involved in
committees.Additional ResponsibilitiesContinuously advance your
technical experience in the following:Technical leadership of
projects,Water treatment and residuals handling processes,
andDrinking water treatment and distribution system master
planning.Interact with clients, local and remote Stantec staff,
permitting agencies and other consulting firms in the execution of
engineering projects.Gather information, develop, and evaluate
alternatives, and prepare engineering reports.Perform engineering
analyses, modeling, and calculations and prepare detailed design
drawings and specifications.Perform other duties as
assigned.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsExperience
with design of water infrastructure.Strong written and verbal
communication skills, including public speaking and
negotiating.Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse
team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.Education
and ExperienceBachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or
chemical engineering.MS in related fields preferred.Minimum of 15
years of experience.Valid California Professional Engineering
license or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months
