H2O+U.As an Engineer-in-Training with a Structural Emphasis, your
role is to work with general supervision, mentorship, and direction
on projects under the guidance of Senior Structural Engineers and
mid-level Engineers. You will perform or develop structural
evaluations, analyses, calculations, design drawings,
recommendations, and specifications for engineered systems or
products for projects verifying compliance with applicable codes
and engineering standards/practices.Your Key
ResponsibilitiesPerform preliminary and detailed structural
analysis and design for Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants,
Reservoirs, other Hydraulic Containment Facilities, Industrial and
Administrative BuildingsDesign, analyze and specify primarily
reinforced concrete, masonry and structural steel systems and
buildingsSupport an engineering Team responsible for evaluating,
selecting, specifying, and engineering all structural engineered
systems or products for a projectSupport an engineering Team
responsible for the preparation and revisions to documentation in
various structural phases including conceptual design, detailed
design, and construction support.Engage in the development of a
design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other
visual formatsUtilize computing technologies for the development of
three-dimensional models of structural systemsSupport project
coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external
consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and
vendorsSupport preparation and coordination of the project
specifications with construction documentsPrepare structural
calculations using company standard software, and proprietary
manufacturer softwareAssist in the development of new standards and
specifications for the structural groupWork on multiple projects
simultaneouslyAssist in project administration including writing
reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, and drafting
correspondence.Review Contractor's shop drawings and submittals
regarding structural work and investigating and developing
engineered solutions to Contractor's Requests for
Information.Assist technical staff in field activities including
structural observations, monitoring, and other fieldwork.Work in a
manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees
by following company health and safety guidelines and
policies.QualificationsYour Capabilities and
CredentialsCollegiate-level knowledge and application of structural
design codes, standards, and applicable building codeIntroductory
understanding of all phases of project document production and the
relationship between drawings and specificationsFundamental
knowledge of structural mechanics and principles, structural
systems, means and methods, materials, and industry
standardsAbility to manage time to meet project budget and
scheduleAbility to participate and collaborate in a project team
setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtEffective
oral and written communication skillsPresentation skills are
preferredUnderstanding of Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge
of 3D models and 2D structural engineering drawings using Revit and
AutoCAD, or Bentley Open Buildings and MicroStation, and the
ability to produce models or drawingsExperience using structural
engineering/finite element analysis software such as STAAD, RAM,
SAP2000, RISA is preferredCollegiate-level knowledge of CBC 2019,
ASCE 7-16, ACI 318, TMS 402, AISC 360Education and
ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural
Engineering required; Master's degree preferred0 to 3 years of
relevant experienceTypical office environment working with
computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements
