Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE: Under supervision and with latitude for independent action and decision, GTS Engineers perform responsible engineering work on a professional level in design or analysis of engineering jobs, projects, or parts thereof. The Engineer may be required to perform activities such as pipeline and piping design, cost estimating, field measurements, preparation and correction of field drawings, ordering material, initiation of permits, preparing operating and maintenance instructions, data analysis, compilation and reporting of technical data and performance of other related duties. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare designs, calculations, drawings, layouts, and studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, specifications, and instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures Review designs and documentation to ensure compliance with codes, standards and design criteria Acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods Gas system network and hydraulic analysis Construction Specification and Bid Package Preparation Pipeline Design and Material Selection Alternative/Feasibility Studies Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges and solutions Work closely with other workgroups at our clients place of business and GTS offices Coordinate various inspection and testing methods, gather data, analyze and report findings SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Technical Skills Required Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering 2 years relevant experience Engineer-In-Training Certification (Desired) Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software (Desired) Technical Communication Proficient use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint Utility Business Understanding --- Desired Leadership Skills Required Customer and Client Focus towards providing excellent technical service exceeding expectations Effective Communication (Written and Verbal) with technical and non-technical office and field personnel Analytical Thinking with applied knowledge of Codes, Standards and Requirements Innovation (Creativity) with efficiency and cost benefit objectives Open Debate and Courage to do the right thing Results Orientation to meet and/or exceed the scope, schedule and cost goals Teamwork within GTS and as part of the complete client Program organization Committed to Excellence with everything we do EXPECTED OUTCOMES: Assignments are completed accurately and on time Designs comply with applicable codes and standards Designs take into account safety, ergonomics, simplicity, constructability, and ease of maintenance Projects are managed safely, efficiently and effectively Projects consistently achieve targets and goals and project objectives Project Cost, Scope, Schedule are managed and communicated with high quality status reports Clients and GTS Leadership are appropriately informed of progress, obstacles and solutions Innovation and implementation of quality standards are practiced Cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork behaviors are demonstrated PERFORMANCE METRICS: Designs, calculations, analysis, inspections and final records/reports are accurate and well documented Projects achieve and exceed client expectations Project goals are met for cost, scope and schedule Client scope of work is clearly defined and scope changes are communicated and documented Clients are well informed with high quality status reports completed on time Personal productivity is maintained and billable hours are recorded with detail Participate in Catalytic Coaching and offer Feedback in support of personal and professional development GTS VALUES: Quality - Take pride in our work-------Achieve the highest standards of excellence Integrity - Follow through on commitments-------Have the courage to do what is right Camaraderie - Show loyalty to GTS and the team-------Treat each other with respect and tolerance Proficiency - Reach beyond competence-------Be a professional at all times Can Do - Go the distance-------Be open minded and flexible-------Find a way to say yes
